What is Instant Messaging and
Texting Professionally

Instant messaging and texting has become one of the most common forms of communication used by people of all ages. Instant messaging generally uses the internet to communicate with one or more individuals whereas texting entails a short message service (SMS) through your cell phone service provider. Both are used via computer or handheld device and are known to be a fast and efficient way of emailing brief messages.
There are multiple forms of instant messaging, from phone applications, to social media. Most of the common messaging services include, iMessage, BBM, Skype, Facebook Messenger, Google Talk, and AIM. All of which are accessed though either a 3G cellphone network or through a Wi-Fi connection, compared to text messaging, where they require the use of a smartphone or PDA.
